Rude, Vernard D.

89 of Rives Jct. passed away Monday March 1, 2010 at Northwoods Nursing Centre in Farwell. Vernard was the son of Daniel and Bonnie Rude born Jan. 12, 1921 in Harrisburg, IL. He was united in marriage to Geneva May Karrick in 1942. Vernard worked for Firestone Tire repair and Blair Tire for 20 yrs. and Visher Tire retiring in 1982. Vernard was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman and had many friends, He was a man of many accomplishments and loved doing things with his family. He is survived by sons, David (Sherry) Rude of Rives and John (Shirley) Rude of Lake, MI; sister, Verna Trader of Springfield, IL; 8 grandchildren, Brenda (Dennis), Mary (Donny), Tom (Kendra), J.D., Melissa (Andy), Elizabeth (Jason), Michael (Sarra), Charlie (Nicole); 3 step-grandchildren, Angie (Bobby), Pete, Christy (Mike); 12 great- grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren. Vernard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geneva; son, Edward; brother, Vernon. He is at the Lauer Family Funeral Home in Jackson where his family will receive friends on Monday :00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Draper Cemetery.
